Cuisinart FP-14DC Elite Collection 14-Cup Food Processor, Die Cast Reviews
This review is from: Cuisinart FP-14DC Elite Collection 14-Cup Food Processor, Die Cast (Kitchen)
I was planning to buy the Kitchen Aid food processor, but the store was out of the model I had researched. I desperately wanted to walk out of the store with a food processor in hand after fighting traffic in freezing rain for an hour to get there. The Cuisinart FP-14DC Elite was in stock, a bit higher priced than I had budgeted, but it was huge and shiny and promised a tight seal over the 3 working bowls that, putatively, would allow me to process liquids with minimal collateral damage. The Kitchen Aid model I thought I was going to buy had several concerns expressed online about leaks and spills, which may or may not have been accurate. This Cuisinart model had numerous issues posted online about food getting stuck inside of the lid and toothpicks, toothbrushes, power washers, and steam-powered carpet cleaners being required to remove all the little particles. There were also some ancillary comments about the dough blade not picking up all the ingredients and food getting stuck... Read more

This review is from: Cuisinart FP-14DC Elite Collection 14-Cup Food Processor, Die Cast (Kitchen)
I had the original Cuisinart for home use and have been using a Custom 11 for at least 15 years. The multi-bowl, locking blade, and reversible/adjustable discs on the 14-cup Elite totally hooked me. After seeing a TV ad and doing some online research, I just couldn't order fast enough. While those features are nice, the most important thing is how the machine functions as a FOOD PROCESSOR and in that regard....what a disappointment. The ONLY thing I did before boxing it up to return was shred carrots for a salad. While filling the large feed tube, a couple of baby carrots fell right through the finger hole of the shredding blade into the large bowl. Okay. Reposition blade, try again. Use small feed tube, assuming that will make fallout less likely. I might as well have taken a weed-whacker to a bowl of carrots. There were many nearly-whole carrots left around the rim of the blade (over 1/2 cup) and the contents of the bowl ranged from crumbs to nearly whole baby carrots. Nowhere... Read more

I have been using a Cuisinart since they were first introduced in the USA. From day one I have been a fan and kept two for everyday use. A 14 cup and one of the small ones for chopping. I thought that this would be the answer in combining the two but it is messy beyond belief. Everything seems to wind up in the rubber ring around the top or in the lid. I have to take it apart and manually clean those areas to get all my food. Lots of wasted time and effort. You can actually operate the machine without having the top totally engaged. I will stick to making bread dough in a Zojirushi. This machine seems a bit "over thought". It would be wonderful if it wasn't so messy. The idea behind the reversible grater and the graduated slicer is great. I had every disk made for my old processor and this certainly makes it easier and storage much less. The woman who does the video demo acts as if this is the first time she has ever turned on a food processor! I am not returning it but I... Read more

Features: KitchenAid's exclusive on-the-fly externally adjustable slicing disc allows you to adjust slicing thickness from thin to thick, without having to remove the blade assembly. With the slicing disc installed, simply slide the Slicing Thickness Control to the desired setting - no need to remove the cover or even turn off the Food Processor! Two speeds and Pulse provide precise control to give great results with most any food. One of the industry's largest, the 3-in-1 feed tube accommodates large items - like tomatoes, cucumbers, and potatoes - with a minimum of sectioning or slicing. A small hole in the bottom of the narrow pusher makes it easy to drizzle oil into ingredients - just fill with the desired amount of oil or other liquid ingredient. The heavy, slip-resistant base helps provide improved stability and reduced vibration during tough food processing jobs. Comes with Mini-Blade, 13-Cup (3.0 L) Work Bowl, Externally Adustable Slicing Disc, Reversible Shredding Disc, Drive Adapter, Disc Adapter, Slicing Adapter, Stainless Steel Multipurpose Blade, Dough Blade, Chef's Accessory Case, and Spatula/Cleaning Tool.
I recently bought the KitchenAid KFP1333CU 13-cup food processor to replace a Cuisinart FP-14 14-cup model. The locking mechanism on the Cuisinart's work bowl cover had broken, but rather than replace the cover, which would have run about $50, I decided to swap the whole thing out for the KitchenAid because, frankly, I never much liked the Cuisinart. So what I want to do here is compare the two machines, highlighting the pros and cons of each.
Both machines are about the same size and take up the same amount of counter space, the one-cup claimed difference in capacity notwithstanding. The KitchenAid, however, is considerably lighter than the Cuisinart -- almost flimsy by comparison. This of course makes it easier to lift and move the KitchenAid around, but try to finely chop chunks of hard cheese or knead bread dough and the machine rocks and vibrates violently. If you don't hold it down with both hands it threatens to overturn or jump right off the counter. The Cuisinart... Read more

My wife got this with a little bonus money she came across (yea savings bonds!) This is her first "real" processor and she is in slicing dicing heaven! She has made everything from Coleslaw to Hummus in it. So far it works like the nuts. The lid is a bit difficult to get on and off (a little cooking oil on the rubber ring will solve that problem) and we find we often try to overload the feed tube so that the safty lockout won't engage. It is big and takes up counter space but it get used plenty enough to justify it. There are a ton of cool recipes (yumm food processor cheesecake- TO DIE FOR!!) and even mundane tasks (like slicing tomatoes for a sandwich) are quick and easy. Clean up is a breeze (usually just a quick wipe with a soapy sponge and a rinse) and the blade storage case is practical. All in all we are very impressed. Lets just hope kitchenaide carries thru and makes the accessories they promise in the manual.

This review is from: KitchenAid 13-c. Precise Slice Food Processor, Contour Silver (Kitchen)
So far it's the best food processor I've ever owned. I do wish they had included a small cookbook with the appliance.
My last food processor finally started cracking after 15 years of use, so I upgraded to the 13 cup Kitchenaid. The plastics in this appliance are far superior to my last processor, and the gaskets make for a tight seal. Another upgrade for me was the fact that you push the blade in to lock it....that means you can take the work bowl off of the processor and have no leaks because the blade stays firmly in place. I also love the case that was included to hold all of the blades in a small space.
Note: If you buy this product, take pictures of how the accessory case is packed before you take the blades out. Took me a little while to repack correctly so the accessory case would close.

cuisinart food : Cuisinart MCP-12 MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set Reviews
This review is from: Cuisinart MCP-12 MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
This is the set you want. Why? Here are some reasons. Some are about Stainless steel cookware in general, but all apply specifically to this set.
o Stainless steel is sanitary. You can get them perfectly clean very easily. (Commercial food processors are often required to use stainless steel for nearly everything that comes in contact with food.)
o Stainless steel cleans up nearly as easily non-stick cookware. You do clean it differently, however.
o These pans have an aluminum core wrapped on both sides by stainless steel. Stainless steel does not transmit heat quickly but aluminum does. Aluminum is soft and dents easily, stainless steel is hard and strong. This means you get the toughness of stainless steel with the even heat distribution of aluminum.
o Even heat distribution and rapid heating allows you use lower heat setting thus saving energy and reducing the chance of burning food.

For those of you considering upgrading your cookware to professional grade stainless steel, look no further.
I've owned this 12 piece set for over a year, and can't offer enough praise. It still looks brand new (use Barkeepers Friend to clean it). It heats evenly and quickly, retains heat for a long time, sears and browns well without burning, handles comfortably, cleans up easily and looks great! I'm fortunate enough to have several different types of cookware to compare. My cookware includes: All-Clad, JC Penny Elite (5 ply Copper Core), Chefmate tri-ply, Hard Anodized non-stick and Cuisinart Tri-Ply Copper.
In my opinion, the All-Clad Stainless Steel line is much overated. Its great cookware, but has no rolled edges for easy pouring without making a mess, and I prefer the handles on just about any other brand. All-Clad's materials and construction are the same as the other premium lines, with the exception of the rolled edges. Incidentally, staunch... Read more

...with the right pot.
When I was checking into buying more high-quality cookware a few years ago, I was totally sold on AllClad, but then a friend of mine whose job at the time was to test kitchen cookware (if you can believe that!) told me I should check out Cuisinart's MultiClad line instead. Turns out it's had the same features (and add-ons) as the AllClad I was so in love with (stainless steel wrapped around an aluminum core), but without the major price tag that comes with the "AllClad" name.
So I got the Cuisinart line and absolutely have loved it ever since - I've even been adding to my collection every year or so.
As far as comparing it to nonstick cookware...well, I still have some nonstick pieces, but I don't use them much - a little bit of Pam Cooking Spray, and I haven't had any trouble. It also comes with great cleaning instructions...in fact, mine still look almost new even though they're a few years old.
